Maclab Development Group Ltd (MDG) is a highly innovative and entrepreneurial group that is continually exploring new ways to meet the evolving needs of contemporary individuals and families.  MDG is responsible for the sourcing, acquisition, design, development, and marketing of MDG’s development projects focused on new communities, retail, and multifamily assets. 

The company’s efforts to source new revenue properties and continue the rejuvenation and redevelopment of recently acquired assets and properties held by the company for many years is a focus of significant energy and will allow the company to drive the growth of the asset base in the future.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK
 

The Commercial Manager will have oversight over the income producing assets for Maclab Development Group including:

1.      Day to day property management of a portfolio of commercial assets including the management of an internal dedicated team. 

2.      Day to day management of third-party service providers including brokers, contractors, service providers for the portfolio.

3.      Asset management for multifamily and hotel assets. 

4.      Monthly and quarterly reporting

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Property and Asset Management:

·      Ensures properties are maintained at a standard consistent with the vision and strategy for each asset and the expectations of Maclab Development Group.

·      Establish and maintain relationships with the brokerage community ensuring leasing activity is strong and vacancy is filled in a timely manner

·      Manages receivables and collects rent in the required timeframe.

·      Continuously stay abreast of industry and market trends and provide insight, expertise, and knowledge.

·      Manages landlord’s work to ensure tenants can open on time according to their lease.

·      Responsible for annual budgets and monthly reporting. 

·      Manages a team of six to ensure the full execution of the annual business plan. 

Residential Asset Management:

·      Manage the relationship with Midwest Property Management, our residential property manager.

·      Provide recommendations related to asset management and options for cyclical expenditures.

·      Monitor budgets and participate in the annual budget process.

·      Hotel:

·      Maclab owns Tekarra Lodge, a 53-room seasonal hotel, in Jasper Alberta. It is managed by a third-party operator and requires input into the asset management and capital investment.

 

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
 

·      Desire to be a part of a high functioning team

·      5+ years of comprehensive experience in commercial real estate, leasing office, commercial and retail properties, asset management, acquisitions & relationship management.

·      Strong people management and leadership skills.

·      Strong relationship building skills especially with partners and stakeholders.

·      Entrepreneurial, able to move quickly and adept at seeing opportunities.

·      Interest in continually learning and developing.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE 

·      RPA or CPM would be an asset

·      5+ years of progressive experience in real estate with a focus on property management
