Marc is the Principal and Managing Director of Maclab Development Group. His principal areas of expertise are in property development, investment, and board governance.
Following an early career as a management consultant, Marc joined Maclab in 1991. Since then he led the company’s return to the development businesses and the diversification into counter-cyclical investments.
With deep connections to Alberta, he is passionate about building the community; he is a proud supporter of the Youth Orchestra of Northern Alberta, the Loran Scholarships, the Citadel Theatre, the University of Alberta, the Women’s Emergency Accommodation Centre and several other Albertan and Canadian institutions.
Marc was awarded the Alberta Centennial Medal in 2005 and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012. He holds a B.A. from Williams College in Massachusetts and an MBA from INSEAD in France.
He is married to Stacy Schiff, a biographer and historian. They have three children.
Bill Blais is the President and CEO of Maclab Development Group. He is responsible for the strategic direction, culture and growth of our team. The company operates in a collaborative creative environment and Bill is focused on leading a team of development professionals working to build both new neighbourhoods and new infill development projects. He manages partner relations and government relations with a focus on long term value.
Actively involved with in the development industry and greater community, Bill currently sits on the board for the Francis Winspear Centre for Music (Edmonton Symphony Society & Winspear Centre) and the Fort Edmonton Management Company. He is the past Chair of the Board of Directors for the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce and has been a Director of the CHBA - Edmonton Region and has been active with the Alberta School of Business Alumni Association.
In his spare time, Bill enjoys riding his bike and spending quality time with his wife and children.
Bruce Bentley is Chair of the Board of Directors of Maclab Development Group. Prior to his appointment as board chair in January 2017 he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Maclab Enterprises. He has an extensive knowledge base related to real estate operations and financial management; a background obtained in both public and private company environments.
Bruce has a strong belief in community involvement and is currently chair of the boards of directors for the Edmonton 2001 Athletics Legacy Foundation and the Edmonton Eskimo Trust Company. He has been actively involved with the Banff Centre, the University of Alberta, the Fort Edmonton Management Company, the Edmonton Eskimo Football Club, the Canadian Football League and the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce. He sat on the Edmonton Committee to End Homelessness and the Edmonton Homeless Commission.Bruce is a graduate of the University of Alberta’s School of Business and has pursued life-long learning including executive education at Stanford University and through the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Bruce and his wife Carol enjoy travelling the world and playing golf whenever possible. They have two adult sons, Cale, a chartered professional accountant, who lives with his wife Orsi in Switzerland, and Jase, a commercial pilot based in Edmonton.
Michael Kwan is our Vice President, Finance, bringing extensive private company consulting experience to Maclab Development Group. He leads the company’s finance team, managing financial planning and analysis, corporate finance, financial reporting and taxation. Michael works with Maclab Development Group’s partners to build lasting relationships across business, finance and industry.
Prior to joining Maclab Development Group, Michael was a Senior Manager at Deloitte, a leading professional services firm worldwide, where he led income tax projects for private companies, including developing estate plans, managing corporate restructuring and general corporate tax consulting.
Born and raised in Edmonton, Michael has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta and received his Chartered Accountant designation in 2012. He is a huge hockey fan, and when he can find the time, he is either on the ice or in the stands at Rogers Place.
Janelle supports our Managing Director, Marc de La Bruyère, bringing over 12 years of administrative experience to our team. She has a passion for learning and continually approaches work with curiosity and creativity. In addition to her work with Marc, she manages our corporate marketing platforms and collaborates closely with other team members to assist in projects where necessary. Janelle is a dedicated team member who strives to promote a dynamic and inclusive work environment.
Janelle holds a diploma in Human Resources and is currently completing her CCAP designation through the University of Alberta. She is a certified change management practitioner through Prosci methodologies and is looking forward to expanding her skills in this area.
Outside of work she enjoys golfing, traveling, reading and spending quality time with her two children.

Michelle supports our President & CEO, Bill Blais, bringing over 20 years of administrative, event planning and office management experience to our team. Prior to joining the MDG team, Michelle was employed in legal, manufacturing, retail/service and non-for-profit industries.
She brings to the team a strong work ethic and positive attitude, has a passion for helping people and enjoys the collaborative team environment that MDG offers.
Michelle is currently taking courses in web design and development and is looking forward to expanding her skills in the online marketing environment.
When she is not working, Michelle enjoys being a rock star aunty to her nieces and nephews and spends most of her weekends in the winter sitting in hockey and soccer arenas. When she’s not with the kids, she enjoys travelling, going to concerts, taking meditation classes and spending time with her Pomeranian, Diezel.

Kimberly Ayers is the Executive Assistant to the Chair of Maclab Properties Group and Maclab Development Group. She brings extensive experience in a broad range of roles including executive and board support, communications, policy, and labour relations.
Kimberly holds a Bachelor of Education degree with a minor in Education Psychology from the University of Alberta. She is actively involved in community volunteering while supporting her children’s sports activities and education. Kimberly is also an executive member of ASBA Zone 2/3.
She has a love for all things outdoors and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
As Director of Leasing, Asset Management and Acquisitions, Kevin is responsible for managing our retail projects, leasing, and asset management portfolio. He oversees all aspects of Maclab Development Group’s multifamily portfolio and hotel interests while actively identifying future growth opportunities within Edmonton and surrounding markets.
Kevin holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta and is a 2020 Level III candidate in the CFA Program.
Kevin enjoys spending time with his wife, hiking and playing guitar.
As our Residential Development Manager, Paul brings his passion to developing communities through work ethic, leadership and creativity. Born and raised in Edmonton, Paul has been actively involved in the land development industry for over 20 years; overseeing all aspects of a new community development from construction to sales, while working closely with our planners, engineers, builders, contractors and residents. He is committed to building communities that last for generations.
As a husband and father of three beautiful girls, Paul strives to develop neighbourhoods that provides its residents with a sense of belonging, security, and safety. To give back, Paul volunteers his time to coach community sports and sits on the City of Leduc’s UDI committee.
Sandra Schrempp is the Project Coordinator for our residential portfolio, overseeing project marketing, communications, and contract management. She has an industry background in builder and supplier marketing and has been volunteering with the Canadian Home Builders’ Association since 2015.
She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and is currently working towards her Applied Land Use Planning Certificate from the University of Alberta.
Sandra studied ceramics in Australia and belongs to a local pottery studio. She and her son also volunteer with local feline rescue groups, fostering kittens and assisting with promotion and education.
Doug Haines is our Vertical Development Manager, bringing almost a lifetime of experience to Maclab Development Group. Doug started his journey into development by joining his family’s development business as a teen. He has almost 35 years of experience in development and construction in the capacity of an investor, business owner and developer.
Doug is passionate about the environment, healthy urbanization and walkable cities. An avid snowboarder, cyclist and arts supporter, Doug can be found enjoying the outdoors or local events with fellow Albertans.
Born and raised in Calgary, he has travelled extensively and lived in some exotic locations before meeting the love of his life and settling in Edmonton, which he now calls home.
Jeff King is the Project Manager of our vertical development portfolio and brings over thirteen years of construction and development experience to our team. Prior to joining Maclab Development Group, Jeff worked in both commercial and residential sectors contributing to several notable projects in Edmonton and surrounding markets.
Jeff attended the University of Alberta where he earned a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Sociology and a minor in Psychology. After graduating from the U of A, he returned to school at Santa Barbara City College where he earned an associate’s degree in both real estate and finance before returning to Edmonton and beginning his career. Jeff prides himself on having a comprehensive and holistic approach to project management, along with being detail oriented and working collaboratively within a team.
If he’s not at work, you’ll likely find Jeff at the rink with his wife and three children ensuring they have tight enough laces or that they didn’t forget their water bottles. He enjoys walking their family dog, Elvis, and keeping up with the Oilers.
Mandy has been working with Maclab Development Group for over 10 years. She reports to the Vice President of Finance and performs supervisory work in accounting, tax, and financial reporting as a corporate controller. Mandy also supports the corporate finance department’s overall operation as required.
Mandy holds a CGA designation in Canada and a BS in mathematics from China.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, eating good food and she’s trying hard to be more active.
Gurmeet joined Maclab Development Group in 2014 as a corporate accountant. Her role involves preparing monthly and year end accounting files, financial statements and tax returns. She maintains and prepares accurate financial records and provides senior management, auditors and shareholders with pertinent financial information.
Born and raised in Edmonton, Gurmeet has a Bachelor of Management degree from Concordia University of Edmonton and received her CPA designation in 2014.
Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
In 2019, Jeremy joined Maclab Development Group through our summer internship program where he assisted in developing pro-formas, compiled financial information and provided overall financial support to the team. After a successful summer, Jeremy was offered the role as our full time Real Estate Analyst.
He is currently completing his final year at the University of Alberta with a major in finance with a focus in modeling and forecasting. Jeremy is interested in pursuing his CFA in the near future.
In his spare time, he enjoys camping, hiking, badminton, and playing video games.
Isabelle Pham joined our team earlier this year as our Accounting Assistant where she is responsible for processing accounts payable and receivables, managing journal entries and ensuring adequacy of supporting documents for completeness and accuracy. She graduated from University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and a minor in Economics in 2017.
Isabelle’s strengths shine in being detail oriented, result driven, and her ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
She enjoys going to workout classes, cooking new recipes during her free time, and walking her two cute little dogs, Bully and Rio.
